Girl Child-A Blessing Not A Burden

Child-an innocent life which solely depends on us

Which has just innocence & lots of love to give

Whose one smile can lighten-up anyone’s day

That smile, those touches it warms your heart like nothing else could in this entire world

Then why to discriminate between these children’s

Why prefer one & reject the other

Why the birth of a boy is celebrated with sweets & happiness but the birth of a girl is accompanied by sympathies & consoling that maybe the next one will be a boy…why???

Every child whether it is a boy or a girl. It is a gift, a boon, a bundle of happiness that should only be cherished with happiness & love

But sadly that is not the case

No matter how modern we have become, still, there is a vast majority of people who aren’t able to accept girl & boy as equals

For them having a boy is a blessing while a girl child is a burden

And honestly, that is the most heartbreaking thing to see

on this land where so many goddesses are worshipped, on this very same land, thousands of baby girls are rejected, they are considered a burden, a curse

Frankly, I feel sorry for those people who are blind enough not to see what a blessing they got

You know there is a saying that some times while collecting shiny stones we miss upon diamonds

And that is what these people are doing

My Story

Last year my di got pregnant, it was a super happy moment for us

But something weird happened

Relatives, friends used to visit & bless di …but they use to always bless her to have a baby boy

And It kinda felt weird because all we wanted was a healthy baby, whether it is a boy or girl doesn’t matter

As long as it is healthy & safe we were happy

Of course, we would be super happy if di had a baby boy but at the same time even if it is a baby girl, NOTHING is going to change

We would have celebrated it the same

In fact, my dad & jiju were on a team baby girl

I’m happy that my family isn’t one of those people who don’t know what they have, but at the same time I’m really feeling sad for those babies & their mom’s who got to go through this

Well last year in October my di gave birth & we were blessed with twins, baby boys “double dhamaka” & that was the BEST moment of my life

Now my whole life revolves around them

My whole family hasn’t been this happy ever

And I know for a fact that even if they were twin baby girls our love, our life nothing would have been different

They would have gotten the same love, the same care that my kids are getting

And this is what I want all children’s to get

Because the treatment girls are getting in some parts of our country is beyond thinking & this needs to end

Sex Determinations, illegal abortions(female foeticide)  this is inhuman & it needs to end

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is an initiative taken by the government

Girls are Angels who need to be pampered & cherished not punished

Reason Why I’m Writing This Article

Recently I haven’t been writing articles about social issues but today I came across some video that was regarding this subject, where a woman was first made to go through abortions because she was carrying a girl child & next time when doctor denied revealing the sex of the baby & when the baby was born, it was a girl

Then the family tried to drown the baby in milk so that she can attain salvation

Although the video was friction but still in many places this thing or similar practices are being followed & honestly it disturbed me big time

Even though I’m not a mother but my di’s kids are like my own & seeing that video made me sick

Those innocent lives- they are NOT at fault, they haven’t done anything then why the hell. They have to go thru this hell

One more incident that made me think about this is some months ago my friend was pregnant(last trimester) & I was hoping for a good news call but I never got

And after some days I met her mother at a temple & I asked her & the answer shocked me

She said that “she had a baby girl, so there was nothing happy to call & tell” seriously???

That was the last thing I was expecting

Being a woman herself, such thinking is sad

Children’s are a blessing, If a Baby Boy is Lord Krishna then Baby Girl is Goddess Lakshmi

STOP discriminating between them

Love them equally & they will bring lots & lots of happiness in your lives

there are people out there who are craving for parenthood, who can’t conceive, who are dying to have a baby

Please value what you got, treasure them because they are a part of you.

I’m not saying hoping for a boy or girl is wrong, come on everyone has there own wishes

Hoping for a boy or girl is one’s choice & there is absolutely nothing wrong in it

But there is a thin line between hoping & wanting. That shouldn’t be mixed up

For example, If I’m pregnant I might want a baby girl but at the same time if I’m blessed with a baby boy

I’ll love & care for it as much as I would have done for a girl

This is what hoping is…

But wanting is something completely different

You wanting a boy & absolutely rejecting if it is a  girl

That is where the problem lies

Although I feel nowadays people have grown to accept both boy & girl but still, it’s not enough

Because still there is a majority of people who still differentiate

Hope this gender discrimination ends soon

And every child is welcomed with open arms & happiness

Save Girl Child- A Step That Everyone needs to TAKE

I wish a day comes when if a new mom’s eyes are moist

it is because of happiness not because she gave birth to a baby girl

It is high time people understand that Daughter is NOt Tensions but is EQUAL To Ten-SONS
